hello fellow camaro enthusiasts. I'm new to this site and look forward to sharing solutions to car problems. I am busy preparing to install a 454 in my 80 camaro. It's so nice to finally have gotten my hands on a good big block, not so easy here in europe and considerably more expensive. Having blown all my dough on the initial motor I am now nickel and dimeing my way through the rest of the build, trying not to cut to many corners. Got to do it right but can't spend anything extra for a while. Just focusing on details like types of motor mounts.solids are the cheapest and whether or not I can squeeze in an old set of 67-68 camaro big block headers without resorting to heat and hammer techniques to get them to fit. Been told on another forum that 70-72 frame motor mounts will keep the engine under the hood without cutting holes in it,don't know if thats possible but it would also make room for the headers and steering arm. Anyone got any advise on these idea's that could save me a few bucks or days(weeks) of work ? I appreciate any advise and/or help.

Re: new member

Welcome, Phil.
The headers will work as Second Gen Camaro's are forward steer, meaning, the steering box is in front of the crossmember.
This placement opens up room for the drvr header.
Second Gens also had 396's in the, but I don't know what they used.

Just a warning, you'll be gigged for pictures.
