Newbie looking for windshield adhesive tips

Hey everyone. New to the site, every time I look for tips this is the site that has the answers. Looking forward to networking with all the Camaro fanatics!

I purchase a 69 about 2 months ago, unmolested original SS 350 car. It's rough as I live in the rust belt, but some TLC and it'll be good to go.

I removed the front and back glass today, and some of the old urethane is really holding onto the channels. Anybody have some good methods for cleaning it off? I can't just mercilessly scrape it because of the rust issues that are present as well.

If the rust pulls off as well it will just save u cutting or grinding out later.
Any holes u make.. thats good... because u should be able to get a heavy screw driver , sharpened up and tap along under the ureathane to lift, if it goes thrum then that needs repair any way.

Thanks Steptoe, valid point. I suppose I was trying to save as much as possible so that I could see what was supposed to be there before I destroy it. I'm a mechanic by trade, and major bodywork is new ground for me. This build will be a learning experience!

Re: Newbie looking for windshield adhesive tips

I will add thu take pics with a ruler to ID positions of the trim pins....
Once u have welded a patch in, or filled a hole, 6 months later trying to rem is a bitch.
On the other hand many of use do have these pics, like finding the seat belt clip holes once the interior hood liner goes in lol
Cheers
