Hello from Central Ohio

Hello all! I'm new to this site and this is my first post. Back in September 2009, I acquired a 1968 Camaro SS, in need of a full restoration I knew the previous owner, and he had gotten into a situation where he needed a running vehicle. He knew I had wanted his '68, and at the time I had a '91 RS Camaro, so he offered to trade. I was headed off to college at the time, and had no need for a running vehicle, so that is how I got my '68! The restoration is coming along slowly, but I want to make sure it is done the right way. I look forward to speaking to you all, and hope I learn as much as I can. I will post pics in a few days

haha, thanks! Before I can get those pictures up, it seems as if you know a thing or two about the 68 Camaro. From as much research as I've done, it seems as if the Camaro is a true SS, it's a factory V8 (VIN), and the shocks are staggered. The hood has the louvers, too. The rear is a 12 bolt. Is there any other way of verification?

Welcome fellow Buckeye! You've come to the right place! This is by far the best resource and wealth of knowledge for Camaros on the planet!

I am from about 20 minutes southeast of Columbus, near Lancaster. So far my plans for the car are a total resto, disks on all 4 corners, Hotchkiss subframe connectors, a hideaway headlight grille, but I'm back and forth on the engine. My dad has a 327 out of a '69 Impala he would donate to the Camaro, but everyone seems to be in love with the LS platform, and I've heard good things about the 6.0s....

Thats a nice area! I am from NE Ohio, but now I'm in sunny Florida

If you have a decent 327 I say go with it at least for the time being. The LS motors offer great power with good MPG.....

haha, I bet you don't miss those NE Ohio winters down in Florida! The 327 needs rebuilt, but I'm sure it's less complex than an LS
