New guy, all ready to ask dumb questions!

Hi everybody. Thanks for the welcome. I'm decidedly amateuristic, but do have enthusiasm which belies my repeated failures! I'm a corporate bond research analyst (head of research) at a mid-sized insurer based in Des Moines.

I've picked up a 69 Camaro here in Iowa last year. Body was great (though mostly new panels) but plenty of problems elsewhere. Probably not the best set up for someone of limited ability to detect issues. But what's done is done, and now that I'm knee deep in this project, I'm committed!

The car is coming along, of course with plenty of help from people who know what they're doing. My biggest investment so far was a 500 horsepower 383 stroker which was entirely necessary given the anemic non-original 350 that was in the car when I bought it.

In any case, now I'm working on the interior, and I'd greatly appreciate your help!

Welcome to the Club, Mike.
Transplanted Marshalltown resident here.

Ask away. Enjoy the journey with your Camaro.
You might make a logbook of the Camaro and album also, as these will become invaluable later in life.

Re: New guy, all ready to ask dumb questions!

thanks guys!

Here's a recent pic. I painted the wheels black because the chrome was not 100% and plus they were kind of an ugly design to begin with, and black sort of deemphasizes that. One guy asked me if I had my snow tires on!

Thanks. Here's a pic of the engine compartment. Now I can't take full credit for the work (I had A LOT of help), but I CAN take full credit for paying for it, to my wife's chagrin!

Welcome aboard the TC, Mike.

You're analyst, which means you can read...great! Get yourself some basic manuals and read... then read some more, eh? The archives on this site are chuck full of answers to questions that you might have. Remember a dumb questions are ones you should have asked...and didn't. We all have been there at one time.

Yep, I can read, though I must admit I feel pretty dumb trying to read the assembly manual. Is it just me? Or is that thing difficult to maneuver? Is it too much to ask for a "Table of Contents"?? Lord, the thing thanks me want to pull my hair out

Looks like fun. Welcome to TC! I like the black wheels. Can't tell from the picture but don't let the plug wires touch the headers unless you want new ones!
