New Member, writing from oversees on Deployment to Afghanistan

I know it seems like alot but here it is and im glad to be a member!

Hey there! Names thomas, 25yrs old. Occupation is Marine Corps. ill be picking up my new camaro this fall from my dad. Cars been in the family since 1990 and has been all around the US and even Europe. The car is a 1969 Camaro Z28 X33 model. Car has 23yr old Garnet Red with black stripes, still looks pretty good. We took the DZ and Muncie out and on a stand. Its replaced with a 383 from AMS racing 505hp 511tq, Tremec tko600 5speed, electric fans, power steeing. Interior is all stock and the car has been sitting for years. Story is when me and my dad took the 302 out and replaced it after we finally got it back from many shops it ran fine. Shortly after problems happened, it wanted to overheat, A/F ratio was never right, had a brass gear shred from the cam and the car sat in the garage. I joined the military and the car sat dad got older and didnt pick up a wrench anymore. Since then hes older purchased him a 2013 ZL1 and loves it and he told me that the car is mine now so im waiting to get back from deployment here shortly to go pick it up. The car currently now starts, drives, like a normal car, but as soon as you try and give it some gas in any gear it bogs so i know its getting too much fuel. Its got a Holley street avenger 770 so when i get it im gonna buy a wideband so i can monitor the ratio and street tune it to get it back on the road. Ive been with this car all my life and im gonna be so proud to drive this beatiful piece of history.

Re: New Member, writing from oversees on Deployment to Afghanistan

thanks everyone for the welcome and thank you for your support its much needed out here. Im still trying to debate on how to get it to Nc though. I dont have a truck or trailer my buddy does though. Ive even considered getting it shipped to me in an enclosed trailer through a shipping company. But i gotta take the DZ/Muncie/ and spare parts my dad has. So a truck and trailer might be my best option. Yea theres no better feeling driving it, the thumbs up i get from everyone. Anyone every shipped a car open or closed trailer?

Where is the car at now?
good looking Camaro.
I think a lot of us guys have shipped or moved a car with a open trailer. no issues .

As a last resort, rent a U-Haul truck/pick-up and a trailer.
They do have nice trailers, fold down fenders for ease of entry into vehicle, surge brakes and good tie-downs.

Re: New Member, writing from oversees on Deployment to Afghanistan

The camaro is in Bossier city, La and im stationed in Jacksonville, Nc. I am considering the shipment because if i spend 100 more to ship door to door, lots of unneeded hassle. Just gotta figure out then how to get the motor and trans sent to me, maybe on a crate or somethin. I might talk to the Machine shop that i used to work at/ and built the engine how they ship their engines and maybe they can give me some advice.
