New member with interesting story on 67 SS camaro

Let me start by saying this is a long story but i will shorten it a bit and add a little color and expand if there is any real interest. I am the second owner, but i used to ride in my camaro as a child listening to "american pie" on the 8 track as a young kid. The story as i recall, is my car was stolen off of a lot i believe to be in California and stripped of its motor. My step father picked it up after recovery and The car lived its early life as an IHRA drag car- the body/frame was never altered other than frame ties. It won an IHRA world record meet in Colonial Beach Va in 1970 or 71, I still have the trophy but haven't looked at it in 25-30yrs. In 1971 it had 151 miles on it 1/4 mile at a time , i acquired the car in 1980 and enjoyed it til 87 and garaged it. In 1991 i started to restore the car but the economy dropped off so it hit the back burner- here I am, 26 years and 3 children later, gonna begin the transformation back.

So true, but i wonder if it stressed as much through the years as I did over the
Welfare of my car- life just gets in the way sometimes, but i am determined to make this process a priority.

Re: New member with interesting story on 67 SS camaro

I am out of touch with todays best products i terms of rust inhibitors, primers, paints
Etc. i can perform all work but the paint ( i want it perfect) but i plan to make up for
all the years i lost- so i will drive it on nice days. This thing is a true survivor other than my first attempt at restoring- but it is unbelievably sound and rust free- i have no
Intention of showing, so would you guys simply strip and prime and paint subframe and undercarriage instead of powder coating components?
