Looking for a new club, done with Ncrs

Michigan Ncrs at Woodward looses a member today
I have been a national Ncrs member since 1999 and until recently a michigan Ncrs member, today, on my way out Woodward, I stopped by this morning to the spot they have at 15 mile to just say hello to a few of my old friends.i was driving my 69 Copo Camaro and expected some ribbing, but was greeted with total hostility, another member told me to park in the back,no problem and expected. I spoke to one of the sponsors and a few members and was on my way in half an hour.

While waiting to leave the head of registration comes up to my car an knocks repeatedly on the roof of my car with his shoe box of registration stuff and then yells in my window that I need to pay the next time. This guy just crossed all of the lines of a car guy, let alone the Ncrs typical member that will never touch another's car even In judging. Maybe he has no respect for anything other than a vette.

I am now putting up my 71 ls6 vette up for sale and I will never return to another Ncrs Michigan event and once my car is sold. , I will cancel my national membership as well. The Ncrs has always been a class act and all clubs have a few bad members, but to have one of these guys being an officer of the club leads me to believe that they have made bad decisions in who runs the club. I do not want to be around any club that is being run by egomaniacs that have no respect for another mans car.

Btw, I have gone out of my way and donated door prizes for a few of the Christmas parties and even donated all of the wine for the lingenfelter tour during the last Michigan regional a few years back. I have never been called a freeloader in my life, if a corvette owner cannot stop by once a year to say hello to a few old friends, then I guess it is so long and hope to see you down the road, the last chance you will have to see me in the vette will be at the pure stock drags, after that its for sale!

Hello Morgan, I totally understand your post, as I've had similar experiences with *certain* NCRS people/officers (not the Michigan chapter), in the past which caused me to quit NCRS. The stated goals of NCRS are great, and I applaud it and I loved it (the sharing of information and parts), but when certain 'little' people are given a little power, it goes to their head, and possibly gets there by running thru stinkey parts of their body first..
In short, all organizations or groups have some *******s, but NCRS does seem to have more than their 'fair share'.. NCRS treats non members better (at shows) than they do their long standing members!

Gary, you hit the nail on the head. I have always defended the group when people said the same thing, no wonder they went from 250 members to 150 in the last few years, well now 149 members.

Re: Looking for a new club, done with Ncrs

After building my camaro I realized how miserable the vette really is. The cabin heat, harsh ride are noticeable. The current set up is a handful with the 2.56 first gear and 4.30's make for a first to fourth on the street the norm, not that the Camaro is much different with the 4.10 and m20. I have done everything with it and love to race it in the pure stock trim that it runs in, but I am done with the nut and bolt boys, I will never get out of it what I have in it, but it is a really clean car.
