new to forum, need help

Hello, my name is Mark and I am from Lousiana. I'm a retired police officer and I finally have time to restore my 68 Camaro rs/ss with a 454, four speed. I have a question about the proper
intake to use with a functional cowl induction hood and breather. I have a edelbrock rpm air gap on it now but I'm having clearance problems. I can close the hood when I take the gasket ring off the breather. I purchase a gm 3933163 intake hoping to lower the carb and before I change it, I wanting to know if it will work. If not, can anybody tell me which intake would work with what I have.

Welcome, Mark, correct year.Generally, 1/2-1 inch of clearance is needed.
You can measure the intake height , and yes, the -163 should work, from the carb base to the front gasket flange, right next to the coolant bypass nipple.

You will be gigged for pictures, just a warning to you from the other members here...

Welcome Mark! The engine mount stands are a very important part of the engine height in relationship to the air cleaner seal height. If you have the proper BB stands, then getting the proper intake should work. If your stands are other ones (like a mix of SB ones), then you are going to have to measure things and take a guess

Curious as why you would choose this question to welcome a new member to the TC site.
