New User from Corpus Christi TX

Hello everyone,
Just about to undertake in a major restore project. This Saturday I am about to pickup a 1984 Camaro Z28 T-Top, which I am wanting to bring it back to factory, or right now that is the plan.

Just wanted to say hello.

Welcome. I had an 84 Z28 back in the day. I loved that car. Still remember the VIN lol... 1G1AP87GOEN181XXX It was grey and had the HO305 with the dual snorkel air cleaner and T5 5sp w/ 3.73 gears. Unfortunately that 305 was a dog, but it was perfect for me at the time.
If you ever run into cooling issues and you think you've gone through everything, take a look under the core support and see if the spoiler is broken. Someone told me that's why I was overheating and I laughed. Turned out the joke was on me and that piece is an integral part of the cooling system.... Good luck with the project.

+1

And I'm so glad to see you correctly call it a T-Top car rather than "T-Tops" which drives me nuts

I've been known to party in Corpus back in the day. Cool town.

Welcome aboard Robert. Sounds like a nice project. And to think a dealer back in 83 offered me a straight trade, my 69 Z-11 for any 1984 Z-28 I wanted. I have never regretted saying no. Maybe your restoration of your 84 will make me second think that.

Re: New User from Corpus Christi TX

Make sure it hasn't been under water. That interior makes it look pretty suspect and being near or in Corpus Christi it's highly probable that it's been subjected to hurricanes. If it has, you're going to need to do something about the salt first. That can be a nightmare ticking time bomb to say the least. Good luck with the project!

Re: New User from Corpus Christi TX

Yea, good point, will check for that.

Now I am picking up the car in a town 2 hours away from Corpus Christi called Donna Texas, so I know for sure Corpus Christi has had no flooding issues, but the smaller towns outside have been known to have issues, so I am really going to take a look for that. Thanks for the pointer.

Before you go dumping a ton of money into a resto, check this out. If I were in the market, I'd pick this one up in a heart beat. These really are all over the place. This one is a couple towns over from where I am right now.
