Converting 67 camaro to multi leaf

Hi, I have a 67 convertible with a 10 bolt and mono leaf, I just got a 12 bolt with multi leaf perches. Can I switch to multi leaf springs with just an installation kit ( pads, u-bolts, bushings) ? Will I need anything else? Can I use my shock mount plates from my 10 bolt? Should I switch to different shock mount plates? Can I do this without having to do anything to the upper shock mounts? Is there anything else I might not be thinking of? ( sorry, that seems like a lot of questions!) Thanks.

Welcome to Team Camaro!

While this is a "Hi, how ya doin, my name is" type of area (we have tech areas) I'll try to answer your question.

Yes you can reuse your shock mount plates (actually you have to if you intend to use the stock upper mount location - 67 has both shocks ahead of the axle unlike 68 and 69).

As you've perceived, it's a pretty straight forward installation provided you have the tools and a modest amount of experience. The "multi leaf" part of the equation is in the axle perches, multi leaf perches being deeper than mono leaf because of the thicker leaf stack up.

If you get on it you'll note that this year has bad wheel hop tendencies (because of the location of the shocks). A good set of traction bars will help with this.

As you have a convertible I'd suggest investing into at least a set of bolt on (weld on preferred) sub frame connectors to keep the body from twisting anymore than it already may have (47 year old car and all).

Almost forgot: You'll need to shorten the driveshaft a bit also.

There's probably more I'm forgetting (haven't done this type of swap in 20+ years) but I'm sure others will chime in with more details.

Might be helpful if a Mod would move this to a tech area too...

67 Camaro: 454/TH400/4.10 12 bolt. Lots of options: PS/PDB/PW, tilt, tach, gauges and more. K-K + 797-Z...

I'd get a set of the DSE multileaf shock plates. The monoleaf plates are made of thinner material and will bend when you torque the U-bolts down hard.
