New-ish member, 1967 RS

Hi all,

I've been (slowly) working on my 1967 RS for a while and have searched this website several times for tips and techniques, but never introduced myself.

The car survived a recent move, mostly in boxes, to my new home in Las Vegas. Work on the car has slowed substantially over the last few years so I'm looking forward to the final push in finishing the car in my new location. The downside is that now that I'm ready to get things going again, I'm in a new environment and don't have any clue where to turn for paint/body, upholstery etc.

So if anybody has recommendations on paint/body, upholstery, engine/transmission trouble-shooting in the Las Vegas area, please post or PM me.

Car details: 1967 RS, red with original vinyl top. PS, PB, factory air, fold down rear seat. I've had the car since 1979 and if I had been smarter as a young man, I'd have kept the original 327 engine and the car would now be a pretty nice "survivor" car as its been in a garage since 1993.

The rebuild will include a 1968 327ci/350HP attached to an upgraded TH350, but other than that I'm trying to keep it is stock as possible when replacing/refurbing things.

Thanks for being such a rich source of information (and occasional laughs).

Thanks for the details Rude Dog. Sounds like a nice project. Glad it arrived all in the right number of pieces and boxes. Since you know we all love car porn, post a few pictures when you get a chance.

PM Vega$69. He's a moderator here, and should have plenty of connections in Vegas for you.

Re: New-ish member, 1967 RS

Welcome! Interesting, I have a 67 RS ermine white deluxe interior and I wish I had kept the original 327 and PG. I dropped in a similar motor/trans 68 327cid with 74 TH350. refurbished original interior to keep originality but had to replace a few parts with repop. Post some pics!!!!

Mike

I think a couple of items in my car (one seat cover and bottoms of the door cards) are beyond repair.

Who did you use to refurb the door cards?

Did you buy new seat covers? I think the fronts are beyond repair, but I think the seldom used back seat could probably be brought back to life. I'll be looking around for best match front seat covers and someplace local to install/rebuild soon.

Re: New-ish member, 1967 RS

I have contacted Vega$69 and he's provided some good info. But I like to have as many options as possible. Coming from a small east coast town with limited local shops, looking forward to many more options to choose from here in Vegas!

Re: New-ish member, 1967 RS

Thanks for all the welcomes. I've taken a ton of photos, so will try to find a couple of representative photos of where the car stands today.

Staring at the boxes of unopened Classic Industries parts, the "sub-projects" boxed up in-progress, not to mention all the "miscellaneous parts" boxes stacked up in the garage by the movers, I feel a bit overwhelmed on where to start. At least my previous garage was sorta organized!
