New to the Team

Hi all. New to the Team! Always a Camaro lover. Had a '67 coupe in the late '80s. Lifetime Bowtie fan, I started with a '69 SS El Camino in HS in early 80s. Decided to go on a hunt for a "new" Camaro about a year and a half ago. What a trip it's been and wound up with a Dusk Blue 69 drop top driver in March. Have been enjoying the Summer in it here in Santa Barbara, Ca. Finally started working on it and discovered this site. Quickly came to the undeniable fact that Tech Forum ROCKS and joined! Given that the car came with a Tremec 5 speed and NOS motor, and that I believe American Steel beauties like this should be driven, I am going the resto-mod route. Recently put in Hotchkis 1.5" drop Sport leaf in the rear and 2" drop Sport Coils in front. Master cylinder just went, time to upgrade to power disc. And figured since I'm doing that, might as we'll rebuild front suspension with Poly bushing. AND, since I'm pulling off control arms, heck, why not upgrade to tubular...Not sure if that's TMI for a Newbie intro...I'm off to search the Tech Forum to see what y'all have to say about front end upgrades.
One last thing, I wanted something that need work to keep cost down, but no RUST. And, I wanted a blue (Le Mans or Dusk) code. The funny thing is, and I've seen this with a few '69s for sale out there, it has a '67 bumble bee stripe and '67 style wheels/ trim rings. Odd..

Re: New to the Team

Welcome to Team Camaro!

67 style "bumble" stripe was something a lot of folks did to later cars as it was the least expensive way to have a "stripe" on the car.

And by 67 wheels/trim rings do you mean flat caps vs sombrero caps?

Q: Is it a VN or NOR car? If Nor does it have an "X" code?

At any rate, have fun with your car.

Re: New to the Team

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been swamped at work...Got everything for the front end/brake conversion this week, so will be going tubular on the control arms and replacing all bushings with poly or delrin.

The car is a NOR X11 and the hubcaps are the "flat" caps with the disc brake stamps on them. I don't think the repaint is that old, so that bumble bee stripe still seems odd to me. I'll figure out how to upload pics this weekend and show ya what I have!
