Cool Newbie

Hi everybody. New to the site but not new to Camaros. I bought my first car when I was 19. A used 69' Camaro with a 350. Owned it for about 4 years then sold it when life got difficult. Fast forward 20 something years and I now have another one in a half completed stage.

Years ago my wife convinced me to buy a beat up project car with a I6 motor. I really didn't want it but she said she'd drive it. So I said ok. Did I say beat up. I should have said beat down. Lots of rust. After thousands of dollars in parts, labour and paint, the old girl looks pretty good.

Now that the body is in pretty good shape she said "Ah... You drive it." Well... I can't drive an I6, so I'm now getting a big block put in. I was hoping to have the car on the road by now but looking at schedules, I think next spring is my new deadline for having the car finished. It's been in the garage a long time but I think the momentum is there now. Still need to finish the inside of the car too.

I'm looking forward to the discussions and maybe getting to know a few of the members. I'm sure I'll be picking up a lot of information since I always have questions.

Cheers

Re: Newbie

Welcome, Ken. Can't go wrong with a BB '69! There are a lot of parts that are BB specific on the first gens to do it right, so be sure to research that. Frame stands, cross member, clutch linkage and shifter mount if equipped with a manual transmission, radiator shroud, heater core, and front springs are the main ones.

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
