How I spent the last 48 hours

Not a new member but a new ride.

This car looks way better in person than the pictures show. Still some restoration to complete but they'll be fun projects.

It's a numbers matching 68 RS with correct paint/vinyl top per the cowl tag. It's very close to what I've been wanting so this is a better starting point than trying to turn my base into a RS clone.

Yes, standard black bucket interior. Console shifter like I wanted. It's a granny 327/210hp. I'm not sure if I'll rebuild it for more power but probably not since I won't be driving it much. Gotta add a rear spoiler too.

You got it, congrats !

I want to mention, in the What's it Worth discussion, I questioned the originality of the woodgrain dash in a standard interior. Come to find out, it was included with the console.

Re: How I spent the last 48 hours

I can't pin down the mileage. It was the seller's father that owned it originally and she didn't know much other than that it was worth a decent price. She just looked at the odometer and figured that was the mileage. There are a few things that lead me to think it's really 115k miles but other stuff like the interior carpet, seats, and the under carriage make it look more like 15k. I guess the important part is that if it has been restored to look new I shouldn't care about the mileage. I know some things have been replaced because some original parts are in the trunk but that's all fine with me because it was all done well. It was repainted about 15 years ago but it was a quality job and all trim was removed, not just taped off.

Wowed. What a score. Word of caution. Unless you are a purist with a full head of hair to gradually pull out, if those headlight doors start to give you trouble, convert them to any one of several full electric activation. DSE makes good ones however Matt in Danville Ca is a sponsor retailer to this forum and has a great kit for around $800.

Kudos on your successful acquisition.

Thanks Will. I'm not exactly a purist, but I do like the vacuum headlight doors. I like the way they open and close and I'm willing to do the work. I found during the inspection that the right side headlight door doesn't work and I'm assuming it's the actuator. It was on my wish list to have a 68 with the original hidden headlights so any grief i get from them is of my own choice

Is that a shoulder belt buckle to the left of the rear view mirror?

Great looking car. I like spoilers, but I would leave it off and keep it original. They all have spoilers and cowl hoods, don't they!!!!!
