Greetings to my new car community

I actually joined a while ago while I owned Chevelle cars. I was always a Chevelle guy, but also always had a fondness for the 1st generation Camaro. So, I still own my 68 Chevelle, but I finally bought a 1968 Camaro and plan on selling the Chevelle later next year. I know a lot about Chevelle cars, but not nearly so much on the Camaro. I know I will learn a lot from you guys like I did when I joined the Chevelle forum.

I plan on swapping the engines between my newly acquired Camaro and my Chevelle. This means I will most likely need to beef up the rear end to help plant and launch when I go to the track. I am a part time drag race track guy. Mostly just on T&T nights. The power loss here in Denver sucks.

So I need some referrals for 4 links parts. I probably need more than just a pair of Caltracs. I also need a driveshaft loop. Chevelles are full frame cars and don't have things like panhard bars. I am not used to the Unibody frames. How far do I need to take the rear suspension for a mid 11 second car?

I don't think I need a full 4 link kit with all the bells and whistles. I do have a 12 bolt. I also have a Tremec 5 speed, which is my first manual transmission muscle car and the rear gears are currently 3.55. So I would like recommendations for new gears for a car that mostly runs on the street and drives to my track on the freeway, but will see the track 6-12 a year. Basically, 4.10 or can I even go 4.56 with a 5 speed?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning a lot from you guys.

Cal trac and split mono leaf would be ok fir your power and goals for the car.

Which Tremec do you have?

What tires are you planning to use.

Welcome aboard btw.

Re: Greetings to my new car community

Hi Jay, welcome. A little hijack here to bounce a question off of John regarding the Caltracs. A friend of mine run their setup with the split monos and it has some quirky handling issues he attributes to the Caltrac setup. Have you found that?

67RSSS......owned since 69. A basket case for most of it.
