new guy, new ride

Hi all, saw that this site is the top rated for 1st generation Camaro's, so here I am.

Over the Christmas/New Year holiday I became the new owner of a 69 Camaro. It's an original sheet metal southern car that now lives up north (sorry non-rusty sheet metal). Yes, it is now coated in a nice salt film from the trip behind the truck on the highways back home. I will have to do some major cleaning to fix that mess.

Some goals are to clean up the interior, probably get new this and that for it. Very likely do a total rewire, as it has been brutalized over its lifetime. This site has AAW as the top contender for my business in that aspect.

The car itself is at the solid driver state. Without any hidden agenda, I will have it at Spring Carlisle with a for sale sign in the window if I don't drag my feet. If I enjoy romping in it too much then I may settle for Fall Carlisle.

My thoughts are have fun until it goes away to make room for the next little hottie that I can play with.

Re: new guy, new ride

Eric - Welcome to Team Camaro. Sounds like a nice ride. Post some picture of her when you get a chance.

American Auto Wire is top shelf in quality and ease of installation, and have great phone customer service. Your options are for the factory fit line which get you what she came with off the line, or the classic update which get you modern blade fuse box/panel and options for HEI and single wire Alternator. Both are great lines.

Re: new guy, new ride

Thanks for the kind welcome Brian.

I imagine talking with the tech guys a little about what the cars current setup looks like would get me a better direction on the two featured lines. Based on some non-factory items, I may be only able to run the classic update, or possibly have a factory setup modified to add the oddities.

Re: new guy, new ride

Not to be a tease, here are the poor quality pictures I did get. It was misting rain and rather ugly when I loaded and rained the entire way home.

The engine compartment shot is my favorite.

Re: new guy, new ride

If anyone is planning to make it to Spring Carlisle this year, I will be in Row CA spot 299 of the car corral. It is off to the right coming in through gate 7. Would be great to meet up with folks in person and spend time yapping it up.
