Charlie Dawson

Thanks for the Welcome !
I just got back from Scottsdale Barrett Jackson Car Auction. I chased 4 first generation Camaros past $60,000 before I quit bidding..So, those of you with true Numbers matching Camaros are sitting on a Gold Mine. Long Story, but due to a Sellers mix up on the Color Code he listed in the window data sheet (hoods stayed closed in the Inventory tents), I bought a authenticated numbers matching (except for 1967 M21Transmission) 1968 Z/28 Coupe for under $43K. He listed the "O" rare color,(Corvette Bronze) as a "C" color (White) on his data sheet posted in the window. I met the seller at the car 10 minutes before it rolled in on the auction block and mentioned to him that he painted a Factory White car Bronze. He disagreed with me, we scraped off the overspray paint on the cowl tag and the "C" was actually an "O". So, all the serious bidders that looked at the car in the inventory tent were thinking the car was painted the wrong color. Good for me, Bad for them !

Sucks for the seller but great for you!

Honestly, though, 43k is a good number. 60k+ is ridiculous! At that rate my 6 banger should sell for 30k!

Charlie,

Welcome to the 68 Camaro owners club! You mentioned in another thread you have a '97 Lincoln that's your "Honor to the Corps". Thank you for your service. Here's my tribute to my son (KIA 10/13/2010 Afghanistan), and his unit, 3/5:

Thanks. Your garage is awesome, especially the '63 Nova. I have a close friend in the middle of a '63 restoration. His is not a convertible though.

Re: Charlie Dawson

Welcome, Mr. Dawson, to the Club.
Correct year and yes, I am late in the response.
All in all, I hope you had a good time in Scotsdale.

Thank you, Sir, and your family, for the time in the service.

I agree, nice tribute, Dave, to your son, very sorry for your family's loss.
