Thumbs up New First Gen Owner In The UK

Goood Morning / Afternoon / Evening.

Names Steve and I have FINALLY purchased my dream car, a 1967 Camaro, it's an SS clone and I haven't looked into the tag to see what it was originally, it's still with the seller at the moment getting some TLC as the brake master cylinder is a little lame so they're fitting a new one.

I can't wait to pic her up and I'm looking forward to spending countless hours effing and blinding (cussing) at rusty bolts and wiring that doesn't make sense after 50 years of previous owners bastardising the poor car!

I'll post some pictures and probably a video when I pick her up (hopefully in a week or two) but I figured I'd get registered here and get posting! - Any other UK based members here? If so make yourselves known!

I appear to have used alot of exclamation points in this post so here's a few more for good measure!!!

Thank you Pittpens, I'm curious what sort of work do you do for your clients? Is it Camaro based or...?

Welcome, Steve! I've never been to the UK, but I've been fairly close. Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, plus a couple countries in Asia.

Thanks KevinW, you don't want to come here, it's terrible ha ha. - Kidding.

Glad to hear there's a few of us kicking around.

I'm guessing it's normal to be like a kid on christmas eve (i.e. can't sleep due to excitement) over the fact that I've put a down payment on my Camaro and will be picking it up in a few weeks?

Litterally lay awake at night thinking "I'll do this, then I'll have to look at this and swap that for that.. then I'll buy one of these and fit it here.. Oh but I might need one of those bits too... Hrmmm" then the next thing I know the alarm clock is going off and it's time for work...

Majorly tired at the moment and I haven't even got the car yet!

England and Florida are the only two places I've visisted.

Back to Florida this year actually, just can't get enough of the place, odly enough it's also where my Camaro shipped from!

Welcome aboard Steve. My wife and I spent a wonderful week in London and Bathe last year. Did all the touristy stuff (Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, etc) and really enjoyed our stay. You've got some great pubs also.

Re: New First Gen Owner In The UK

Thanks Naldon, I plan on taking the car for a nice long run so I'll probably be taking the missus (who's from down south near London herself - we live up north now) to a few of those places (Stonehenge etc.) and maybe even Silverstone on the way eh? ha ha.

I part own/run a custom cabinetry/millwork shop. My clients are designers for Tom Ford - they come up with the designs and contract me to build the props for the Tom Ford flagship store in NYC.

Welcome from Texas! I have a friend from Wales that is actually back there right now visiting. Did you make the purchase local, or is it being Freighted from a distance? I'm sure you will get a lot of attention wherever you go.

Re: New First Gen Owner In The UK

Hi,

I'm way down south in Cornwall, Penzance to be exact. Got two Camaros, both made in 66, one in many pieces and one is a driver but is in the garage away from the weather.

Hope you have fun with yours, has it got Disc brakes ? What engine/gearbox ? also, PICS !

Cheers,
Paul
