New member from Alabama

Me and my dad bought this car about 12 years ago and as it always happens we started it and then life got in the way. So now I'm going to build it with him and my daughter. It should be interesting to have 3 generations of our family working on the same car. It's a 68 base model with a 327 and a Muncie 4 speed.

Welcome aboard! Lots of guys with lots of know how here. I grew up near Tuscaloosa. Retired now and spend some of the winter just north of Gulf Shores. Looks like you've got a great project. Jimmie

Welcome Mason, 3 pairs of hands should get the 68 sorted out in no time! If your daughter is on the younger side, she might be eyeing it up for a future prom ride

Welcome Mason,
Real nice start you have there. I like the right side mirror and window trim option on the base model. It's got good bones as mentioned earlier.
It's also nice to see three generations working together.
One thing that scares me in your pics is that jack on what appears to be sandy ground. Be careful please.
Good luck with the '68.

Oh yeah it was sandy. I was airing up the tire on the front that was flat.
I forgot to post a picture of the interior.

I know this is a camaro page but here's a nova I built 2 years ago. The wheels and tires will be put on this camaro.

Never been to your town, but remember seeing the name on the highway exit signs when we are travelling I-65 going back and forth to Destin, FL. That's a name that sticks with you! Has to be an old Indian name.

Looks like a great starting point. What are the paint / interior codes on the cowl tag?

The dash is painted a green color but when I looked it up it was supposed to be white with a gold interior. Maybe I did something wrong? Here's a picture
Yeah wetumpka is an Indian name. We have a casino too haha.

Yep, 722 is code for gold standard buckets, and C is code for Ermine White. What's confusing to me is that it looks like it has a "C-G" on the paint code. Does that mean two tone with Ash Gold top, or maybe a gold vinyl top? Maybe someone more knowledgable with 68's can chime in. Although I doubt that you are going back with those colors.

I also read that Wetumpka has one of the largest prehistoric meteor craters in the world.

Re: New member from Alabama

You are correct, ill be going with a silver/gunmetal color with black stripes and a black interior. If you look at the interior picture i posted earlier look at the metal pieces of the dash, they are greenish in color. Thats what throws me off about the whole thing; and its pretty stripped down and i have found zero evidence of a white exterior color, only the green thats on the interior.

Yeah we have a pretty big crater here too haha.

Re: New member from Alabama

Well I finally brought the car home from my dads house last night. After a new brake master cylinder and a few minutes bleeding the brakes we added some gas to a known decent carb and it spun over twice before cranking right up.

I'm ready to get started but I dread the rust repairs. Rear window channel, a pillar, trunk pan patch, drivers side quarter panel patch and a passenger side quarter panel will be needed as far as I know.

Take a look at "Sequoia Green" on the paint code page I sent you. It is almost a charcoal color. Looks awesome with white stripes / interior, but would look good with black stripes as well. One of my favorite 68 colors.
