Newbie with 68 RS/SS
Hi everyone! I just purchased my first classic car, my dream, '68 Camaro RS/SS. I have always wanted one, because I love the look and sound, and my dad had one that he had to get rid of shortly after I was born. Some people call this my "midlife crisis" car, but I have been wanting one of these for as long as I can remember. I live a mile from Woodward Avenue, so the annual dream cruise and all the regular cruisers in the Detroit area have been taunting me for years!
My Camaro is in its original Butternut Yellow color and has been well taken care of and mostly restored. The car originally had a 396 in it, but the previous owner replaced it with a crate 350. It had factory AC, but that was taken out. I bought the car though a local broker and when I go pick up the plates in a week or so, I'm supposed to receive a box of receipts which will tell me more of the story behind what has been done and when. I do know it was made in LA and lived in Idaho and Texas for awhile before being brought up to Michigan last year.
I am a novice at working on cars and the lingo. I can do simple stuff like changing oil, filters, lights, etc., and I have done some brakes and replaced an alternator before with some supervision. I'm a fast learner and I'm willing to do work on my car myself, but I'm also very nervous about doing something to ruin my new baby! I look forward to using this resource to help me as I continue to fix up and take care of my car for many years to come.
Thanks in advance for your help!
