Talking New Owner

Hello everyone! I'm excited to be here and to learn from all of you. I am a first time owner of a beautiful 1969 Z/28 clone, I've had her for about a week and I have a lot to learn. She's already spent 2 days with my very trusted mechanic to fix little things and now I'm just trying to learn everything I can as I don't know much...don't tell my husband I said that, he'd agree . I've dreamed of having a 1st gen Camaro for a very long time and as my confidence grows in the ownership of classic cars I'd like to add more to my collection of 1 .

I need to take better pictures but here are some from the day I bought her. Look forward to meeting everyone and learning from the experienced owners.

Re: New Owner

The truck caught my husbands eye when we were picking up mine. He had a 1969 long bed when we were dating back in HS and his little brother rolled it off a dirt road about a year after he bought it. Little brother walked away from the wreck . The truck pictured just went through inspection on Friday and we are taking the list of issues to our mechanic and we will make a decision on it next week. We are excited to possibly match .

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Re: New Owner

Welcome, Kara, to the Club,
Yes, lots of knowledge here and ice cream on the second deck.
Congrats on the buys for both of you - nice rides indeed.
I suggest, as a minimum, buy a Haynes manual for the Camaro - great reference and learning material.

It has a 350 V8 with a TH350 3 Speed automatic..I really wanted a manual but this car had everything else I was looking for so I compromised on the manual transmission. I started this past April with a heartache 1968 454 manual that had more problems then you could shake a stick at, so I'm just glad to have one that runs and was put together right.

It has black and white houndstooth interior and one of my favorite features: hideaway headlights . It also has A/C to keep me from dying in the west Texas heat this summer, which was another must.

I've had it since last Monday and I've gone through nearly 3 tanks of gas, I've been finding lots of errands to run .

I was going to provide a video but it wouldn't let me post a link to youtube ... Hmmm.

Re: New Owner

Congratulations and welcome from Leander, Texas! You can post pics and videos once you get to 10 posts, so post away. The RS grill is my favorite as well, so much so that when I bought my SS396 it was the first thing I bought. I think it's very unique and cool that you have chosen to own and enjoy driving one of the best collector cars on this earth, and become one of the family members that is Team Camaro!

Enjoy....and Drive On!

Re: New Owner

Nice looking car, Kara! It's not very hard to switch the automatic for a manual transmission in these cars. Hardest part is gathering all the parts you will need. An afternoon will make the switch once you have everything. Welcome to the site!

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
