New here, here is my 68 Camaro SS tribute

Hey guys,

Here is my 68 Camaro SS tribute I bought almost a month ago now. It's started its life as an I6 car (123 VIN) but is now a 350 4 speeds (M20). Car is not a rotisserie restauration or a 100 points car but it is a decent looking and pretty solid driver.

When I got the car, the M20 that was in it was popping out of 4th and sometime 2nd gear so I swapped it to a rebuild M20. Heater core started fogging the windshield couple days after that so I changed that as well. I also added a backup light switch with bracket and wiring to get the backup light working. Bought trunk mat, jack kit and all sort of random things for the car already. It might get a TKO 600 in the future and/or an LS or a 383 crate engine. 350 does run really good but it's a bit slow for my taste. It still has the 2.73 gear in it from the powerglide which definitely isn't helping, I'm really looking hard to find a 8.5 from a Nova with 3.42 or 3.55 gears or a 12 bolts with the same gears. If anybody has one (preferably in Canada), let me know!

It does get a lot more attention than I was expecting which I'm not used to but I guess that's a good thing.

Thanks!

Welcome aboard! Nice looking car.
When you change the rear gearing it will feel like you took 500 lbs out of the trunk.

Re: New here, here is my 68 Camaro SS tribute

Thanks guys for the welcomes! I think taking 500lbs out of the trunk is an underestimation :P It should feel like its more than that. I think my calculation was that I was at 800 RPM at 10mph, that's terrible! Now finding a cheap-ish bolt-on rear end around here doesn't seems to be a simple task, I hope I can find one soon!
