New here - 69 SS 396
Im 32. I tried to get a 1st gen in high school - (16, half my life ago). At the time it was a red w white stripes 68 350/auto. Dad talked me out of a old car as my first car and I ended up in a 99 V6 Camaro - hardly the same. Well as life progressed, I was in a position to get my first fun car. While I'd love to get a project and do it right, I'm still in surgical training (80+ hrs a week) and have a 20 month old - so I have little free time. I decided to spend some more and get a good solid driver.
My rules were simple:
SS (not RS)
I didnt want a super restomod car, I wanted the original flavor. Ended up picking up a 69 SS 396. Originally a blue X11 car, it was nicely redone.
Also this gives me freedom to drive it, mod it, do whatever and not worry about too much value lost or destroying an original. Its a great solid, straight driver.
396 dressed as 375- '70 L 34 with holley 750, edelbrock performer, 1 3/4' headers, 2 1/2" exhaust
New houndstooth interior
fresh paint, no bondo

I love it! I think its understated on first glance (vs a Hugger orange etc) but the white/black two tone gives it a classy look - almost like a white tuxedo
