30 Year Old Dream finally comes true!

New to this forum, but been using others for different vehicles over the years. Well I finally own a 1st Gen Camaro. Test drive a white 67 30 Year’s ago but couldn’t get it. Last week I finally bought a 67! Far from perfect, but looks REAL good. Plenty of plans, clean up, and upgrades in mind, so gonna need the forum’s help. Thanks for being here, and looking forward to figuring it out.

Re: 30 Year Old Dream finally comes true!

Thanks!
I was able to drive it home down the interstate at about 60 with a friend following close behind, so it's "driveable". But here is a partial list of the issues/problems I'm working on:

1) brake lights don't work (fuse and bulbs are fine. looking into switch and grounds next. not going anywhere until that's resolved)
2) severe ATF leak (garage floor has a good quart on it now. hopefully just something loose under there. at least the fluid was clean LOL.
3) throttle linkage is a coat hanger. runs, but A LOT of slop. trans kickdown bracket and cable interferes with throttle lever range of motion so can't even open up the secondaries. (already ordered $100 worth of parts from Jegs to fix all that)
4) drivetrain vibration when driving over 60. plan on driving to local drive line shop to check driveshaft balance and angles.
5) speedometer doesn't work. (want to get a modern gauge cluster anyway)
6) no rear view mirror or the little bracket/cover to hold the sun visors in place
7) fuel gauge needle is pointing to 3:00 however gauge span is only 11:00 to 1:00

Improvement projects:
8) no heater/fan much less A/C.
9) convert to EFI
10) RS headlight covers don't have motors to open/close
11) extend exhaust over rear axle and out the back
12) new locks all around
13) no windshield wipers, and motor disconnected.
14) no radio or speakers....at all.

Anyway...that should keep me busy for a while.

Re: 30 Year Old Dream finally comes true!

Yes, you'll have to fix 1 thru 7, on gas gauge,
there is a connector next to trunk lock and you disconnect the connector and ohm check on the tan wire to tank and measure resistance referenced to ground verifying if fuel sender is working or not.
Depending upon fuel level in tank, resistance will be between 0 to 90 ohms.
You might borrow or get a variable resistor from 0-100 ohms and one side to ground and the other lead to gauge, check gauge action.
Gauge should indicate, not cal'd, 45 ohms is half tank, and observe gauge for makeshift fuel level and verify gauge works or not.
One or the other will be broke, maybe, or all needs a good ground connection.
Keep asking.

Sweet. If I bought a car and nothing needed fixed I’d go crazy.
