Greetings from the Central Coast of California

Hello all,

I have been a Camaro fan since I purchased my first one in 1977. It was a 1967 SS/RS coupe with a 350 and a 4-speed. I sure wish that I had that car now! I think I paid $2400 for it back then. Who knows what it would be worth today. Of course, back in 1977 a 1967 Chevy was just a 'used car' not a 'classic car'. I still think about that one though.

Now I have a much different Camaro. I have a 1968 coupe with a 250ci straight six with a two-speed auto transmission. It is no hot rod but it is essentially stock with no modifications. The car is a time capsule. It was purchased new off the showroom floor in 1968 from Roller Chevrolet in Monterey, CA. The car never went beyond Watsonville in it's life. The dealership is long gone today having been replaced with Medical Offices. The car still has the original license plates with the Roller Chevrolet license plate frames. Quite a conversation piece.

Anyway, I will be looking at this forum for information and advice on how to properly restore and maintain my vehicle. I will upload some photos when I can resize them.

Re: Greetings from the Central Coast of California

Congrats and welcome. Sounds like a great car! When I got my 69 Firebird, it had 49K original miles. Sold by Wilson's in Van Nuys and still has the original plates and dealer frame too.

This a great forum with very nice people who are always willing to help. I much prefer it to certain Pontiac forums due to users attitudes even tho I don't own a Camaro.

Welcome Dan -

When new my 68 was also a straight six with powerglide. I'm sure you'll find this forum to be an amazing source of Camaro info -

Welcome aboard. I believe 6 cylinder cars are great for building Restos because they havenít been beat on hard for 50 years.

Welcome Dan, I wish I could find a 6 cyl. car. I would keep it stock and drive it daily. I bet it would get 26 MPG. Like to see pics when you can. I've only seen 1 6 cyl. car at a show. It was nice to see something different.
