I can get an lt9 out of a 88 chevy truck. Is this motor worth rebuilding for performance?

What I have found so far is that I will need new heads and pistons.

all comments are welcome.

Wink Re: Lt9

The RPO-LT9 engines are the dime-a-dozen HD 350 version found in the majority of emmissions compliant light trucks/vans during the late-70s/early-80s.
The blocks are usually a good base for a mild performance build.
Internals are normally not considered 'performance' pieces worth reuse, but with common procedures the crank and rods can be used for reliable builds to the @400. HP levels - depending on upper RPM limits you need.
The "lightweight" heads and other parts are mostly junk for any kind of performance need.

I sure wouldn't pay serious money for one. But would pick up a reasonably priced well seasoned unit if I was looking for a nice base.
