EFI Tank Venting Question

I'm planning to upgrade to EFI this winter, and need a little guidance on venting the tank. The tank I'm planning to use is from Tanks Inc. with an internal fuel pump. I know the stock fuel tank set-up allows air into the tank, but doesn't allow air to escape. Will that work on an EFI system too? The Tanks unit has a 3/8 vent on the fuel pump module that I can use to vent the tank, but I'm concerned venting the tank in both directions will cause my garage to smell like gas. Just wondering what other folks have done. Thanks!

Re: EFI Tank Venting Question

You'll need to source a charcoal canister to connect to the vent. I found one on ebay for an old K Car that works well. I'll be interested to see how the Tanks Inc setup works as I've been running a modified stock tank and external pump for years without issue but have been thinking about their setup.

If you are a tight budget you can also make your own canister by using PVC pipe and 2 end caps. I made mine to the dimensions that worked for me and filled with charcoal for a fish tank filter, sounds crazy but worked and have had no problems. Cost around $15.00 bucks.

Re: EFI Tank Venting Question

I just ran a hose from the vent tube of the pump, around the Tanks Inc. tank, up the filler neck and that's it.
It pokes slightly out of the opening behind the license plate.
No smell... and no fuel issues.

Re: EFI Tank Venting Question

The Tanks inc sells a vent for $15. You mount it above the fuel tank and hook it up with tubing to the vent fitting on the tank.

It has rollover protection.

I have it on 2 cars now and no issues and no fumes in the gagarge
