FITECH and efi questions

Ive been looking into getting efi on my 69 camaro for a long time.
Im considering the fitech system and fuel command center.
FiTech Fuel Injection
FiTech Fuel Injection

Looks fairly simple to install, not sure if I should just get an efi tank and skip the fuel commander but im looking for options to modify the filler tube (Bryce at Fi tech said most people install it there) to accommodate the vent line if I decide to use the command center and keep my tank. I just restored the tank a few years ago. $$ is an issue right now so im looking for the best affordable solution or weather ill have to save up for a while longer and get an efi tank setup
most of the efi tanks ive seen are 500$ or better is there a more affordable option ?
thnx

Re: FITECH and efi questions

I'm also looking into an EFI system and here is what I have estimated:

EFI: FiTech or Holley Sniper: Approx $1000.00
Fuel filter and filter mounting bkts: Approx $100.00
Fuel hose, hose ends and hose clamps: Approx $200.00
Tank with fuel pump, Aeromotive or Tanks Inc.: Approx $500.00 - $700.00

This would be around $2000.00 total, hope I didn't leave anything out. I think if you used the command ctr and shopped around for other parts you could save yourself a few bucks.

Re: FITECH and efi questions

I just purchased this at Summit and it won't be shipped until April. Right now there is a $100 rebate that expires in May.
All the reviews that I have read were 5 star. It sure beats the $2000 + systems from what I've been reading. I spent $1240 on the throttle body and the inline pump. My tank is already vented with the RideTech filler assembly I put in years ago. Throw the rebate in there and the price can't be beat.
I'm looking forward to this set up and I'm sure it won't be as easy as it sounds, nothing is, but I did put in a FI system in the wife's Jeep. So I was jealous from that day on!!
I'll post back when I get it in here or on my build page.

68 Camaro SS... getting there!!

Re: FITECH and efi questions

I've heard that some 1969 sending units have the vent built in and are under $50. Certainly cheaper than a new tank....

Re: FITECH and efi questions

I will let you know.
I was going to just take it in and throw it on a dynometer for a few hundred bucks but saw this efi and couldn't pass on it. I'll let you know in a few weeks. My 68 was plumbed with a return line originally. I can't remember what I did with it because I didn't need it at the time. Ooops.
