Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

Now that I've got some time and $$ to put into my 69 Camaro, I think an EFI system would be perfect for my setup. I've got a fairly stock 350 that has a standard eldebrock carburetor. I only drive the car about once every other week and simply looking for reliable performance. I'm only working with around 350 hp so its nothing crazy and it looks like there are plenty of EFI kit options, some of which require full pump / return set-ups. Others have seoerate command centers or full tank systems you can purchase.

The MSD system looks like the easiest setup, but I haven't seen many reviews on how it performs or compares to the sniper, fitech, etc...

They all seem relatively similar in cost, so I'm looking for some feedback on what others have chosen and how the install went or simple recommendations. Keep in mind that I's not working with a 500+ hp car and dont have any plans to for the foreseeable future. I don't mind investing money in the right product.

Thanks,

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

I've installed Fast EZEFI, Fitech and Holley Sniper.

The Holley was the best.

I do not use the external pump. I do change out the tank for a Tanks Inc EFI Tank a 255L pump. I then use the Corvette Filter/Regulator for $35 nas block the return line from the throttle body so I'n only running 1 line from the tank to the throttle body.

I just helped a buddy that used the external pump filter and bypass regulator with the return line. I works well for him. If you go this route you'll need the dual line sending unit

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

I have the Holley Terminator. ( I would probably get the Stealth because of how it looks )It is a nice system. There is room to grow. I would get something that you can have the option to tune with a laptop as it lets you get a lot more detailed with the tuning. There was definitely a learning curve, but ultimately it has been worth it....

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

I installed the FiTech on my buddy’s 350, external pump with return line.
Installed the Sniper on my 427, Tanks Inc gas tank, internal fuel pump with return line.
Recommend both units without hesitation.
I like the tuning software on the Holley better, that’s why I chose it over the FiTech

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

Thanks for the responses. I think I'm going to go with the sniper and new fuel tank...that way if I ever decide to do an LS swap or something along those lines, I'll already have the tank in place and wont have to worry about changing out fuel pumps, etc. I'll update on my progress once I make the purchase.

I've used the Tanks Inc Tank and in tank 255L pump with the Corvette regulator with Fast EZEFI Fitech and Holley Sniper and blocked the return at the TB

All work just fine

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

Is there a system that does not require a new fuel tank and return line?

You can use the stock tank with an external pump, filter and regulator. You will still need a return line. You can use the OEM 2 line sending unit that has a return line on it.

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

Be aware of an external pump!! I chose the FiTech with external and it was waaay too loud. Went with the internal pump with Tanks Inc, and much better!!

Sniper with Hyperspark is on my radar too. Picked up a Tanks Inc off of Pt.com
Plan to plumb it like John suggested.

1968 that started life and a 6 banger with a PG. Now it's a 350 with a TKO600, Moser 12 bolt, Speedtech LCA/UCA, ATS Tall Spindles, Hotchkis Springs, Forgeline ZX3P, C5 (Kore3) brakes with other cool stuff from Ron Davis, Vintage Air and soon to be Terminator EFI.

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

If I was to do EFI over on a small block, I'd try to get as close to a modern EFI as I could get.

https://www.holley.com/products/fuel.../parts/550-810

I know the TBI EFI's work but it's still a wet manifold with fuel making turns just like a carb, You want the fuel shot as close to the intake valve as you can, right at it if possible, and at least you'll have bank fired or paired injectors injectors as opposed to the TBI set up, even full sequential injection like a new vehicle much better efficiency and maybe better tuning potential.

Edelbrock has one also,

Re: Which EFI system? Suggestions or feedback needed.

$3000 for multi port $995 for Sniper🤔

Is it worth the extra $2k?

I hear you, but on a SBC a carb works fine too, but the TBI does have a better choke lol.

I'm lusting after the MPFI since I have half of it already and miss tuning my fuel curve on my laptop, I just make better power with my carb (with my engine) over the terminator throttle body I have sitting in a box.
