New Engine Complete

Not really a Pro Street only deal, but, most of the guys with blown cars hang out in here. I am just about done with a new engine I've been working on for my 1970 Nova. Here are a couple of pictures. I still have some detail type stuff to finish up, but you get the idea. Excuse the mess

Re: New Engine Complete

Royce..that is some serious eye candy. The engine screams on the motor stand alone..only can imagine how she will rock in the nova.

Re: New Engine Complete

Thanks for the compliments.

Believe it or not the whole Nova thing was supposed to be a low budget build. I had some spare parts lying around. Forged crank, aluminum heads, block, etc.. so I bought the Nova to toy with (quick and easy while the Buick was blown apart). Well as you can see the plan some how got off track. The only part I kept was the Lunati crank, I ended up selling the other heads, intake, pistons, etc.. that I was going to use to build a mild 383. Now it turned into a Dart block based 400ci, blown engine, funny how that happens. While it looks expensive it's not that bad. I bought the blower kit from a guy that ran into hard luck complete for $1800 (that's what started the whole over budget deal), I bought the carbs used and tore them down, changed the base plates, fuel bowls, painted them, etc.. I had the oil pan on hand. Ok maybe it is a little expensive since everything else is new. I don't smoke, drink or do any drugs, so my spare money goes towards my tools and car stuff.

I don't think I have a thread on the Nova build, but I will set something up soon.

If you didn't notice the theme it's all black and polish. No chrome. The Nova will be painted green, but I couldn't paint my engine green and getting green plug wires and accesories isn't that common.

Harley,
You're right it is a mess and I am ashamed, but that's part of building cars in the real world not on a TV set.

Thanks!

Jody I have seen your cars/work and it means a lot coming from you. When I grow up maybe I can build the quality cars that you do.

Royce,,

Motor looks awesome and a hell of a deal on the blower.

Royce the "compliments" are most certainly deserved
You have become an excellent fabricator and all your work shows signs of true workmanship and genius in design.

So much for the original "Street Sleeper" concept
I do Engineering Project Management for a living ... can relate to when a projects 'low budget' designation takes a vacaction and all he11 breaks loose
Dealing with one now

As to the 'smoking, drinking and drugs' ... oh come on now
That thing is gonna smoke the tires
And driving a Blown vehicle is a 'drug' in itself

That is an impressive piece you've built there.
Congrates on finding the components at a price you just can't pass on to get you started ... down the road to no return.
If I could come across a deal on a set-up ... might even be tempted to build one up again myself - I got a boat just crying out for a new BBB.

Hope to see you around soon;
John
