Question Gas tank for mini tubbed 69 Camaro

I'm looking to purchase a replacement gas tank for my 69 mini tubbed camaro. The car is 3 linked (coilovers with ladders). Currently, the car has what appears to be a sumped VW tank. Someone cut a nice big hole in the trunk so the tank sit partially in the trunk and under the car.
I'm looking to add a sumped tank under the car in the original position. But I'm not trying to spend upwards of $700.
What measurements would I need to take to figure out what will work?
Thanks in advance.

Just have to climb under there and measure from side to side and front to rear and see how much space you have to work with. Also keep in mind how much fuel you want to carry. If you want a narrowed stock tank, they are out there. I know Ricks Tanks makes them, but they may be in that price range you are trying to stay away from. Look them up, I'm not sure on the price. Here you go: http://rickstanks.com/

You could have someone make you a custom one for less than $700.

Why not go with a fuel cell?

Really trying to avoid fuel cell. Don't want to have to deal with possibly spilling gas in the trunk. I also want to be able to put things in the trunk.

I looked at Ricks tanks they run $800 and up.

Just narrow your tank. That's how mine is.

With Coil overs usually the stock tank will fit. The narrow tanks are needed when the leaf springs are moved when mini tubbed.

Post a pic of what you have to work with.

The car didn't come with the stock tank, they had installed what looked like a VW tank that had been sumped.

I would buy a stock tank and a sump. Then have it motified to your measurements and also add the sump to the bottom of it.

Do you know anyone that welds and has a heliarc. You could also do it with a mig but the welds might not be pretty.

If you don't want a cell, narrow, sump and install an OEM style tank. That's what I did. Subtle, maintains the stock appearance and performs as good as a cell.

to all those with mini tub and 3 inch spring kits a 69 nova tank fits perfectly in car,all that you have to do is cut neck and shorten -instant 18 gallon tank and tucks between spring and body with 2 in clearance.it works cause its on mine now.

Re: Gas tank for mini tubbed 69 Camaro

I am seriously looking to buy a notched tank designed for a mini tub 1969 F body. It is made by Tanks Inc. The model is TM32BN-T. It costs about $305.00. With the pump and fuel sending unit it will cost about $560.00 It is for a fuel injected motor. I have never seen one and really don't know if it is any good but it is one option you might consider.

I've used Tanks Inc on several cars.

We just bought 3 clipped corner 69 EFI Tanks and the quality is great.

The tank is 1" deeper so you keep close to stock capacity.
