The nipples coming out through the firewall rules out a BB car. Since your VIN is so early, the 10D means the fourth week of October '68, but you already knew that. 711 means it had a black standard interior originally. The dual exhaust bracket came on any car that was factory ordered with dual exhaust, so it couldn've had any V8 in it. As early as your car is, odds are it had a 327 originally unless it is a possible SS350 or LM1 car, which would have been a 350/255HP car (unless you find the X3 or X7 behind the rear seat). It's a long shot, but drop the gas tank and see if the broadcast sheet is lying on top of it. That will tell you exacly what it had originally, but they are rare to find on Norwood cars.

The factory sway bar on the Zs were 11/16", some of the COPO cars got the 13/16". Since you are saying you traded a 1" bar for a 1 1/8" bar, I assume you are talking about the drag link between the tie rods. Those were 1 1/8" on the Zs, along with a lot of other cars. Look at your crossmember from the bottom. Is the hole to access the trans mount bolts oval or square with an angled corner? The Zs should have an oval hole. The BB 4 speed crossmembers are the square one. Do the heater core nipples stick out of the core cover in the engine bay? On the BB cars, they come out through the core cover. All the other cars they come out through the firewall right next to the core cover. Keep in mind that over 40 years a lot of things can be changed on a car (not to discourage you). Also, yes, in 82 it was pretty common to see cars with the Z/28 badges even if they weren't originally Zs. Hopefully this helps. If you've got anymore questions, just holler!

Z/28s are the only car that came with 4 leaf rear springs. The rest were either monoleafs or 5 leaf. If you have an early Nor. trim tag, there is nothing that will tell you what the car originally was except what interior/exterior it had and which month/week the car was built (do you have a picture of the tag?). Pop the rear seat back out of the car and look at the bulkhead between the seat and trunk. See if you can find a chalk mark there. If it was a Z, it should have an X3 or X7 there. As for the the 9204 booster, all the cars that came with power brakes had that booster, so that isn't much help. I'd have to look up the coil count, but there were two different springs used on the hood hinges. The flat hoods and "cowl induction" hoods had 26 coils and the SS hoods had 28 due to them being heavier.
