I purchased a matching set of front seat belts for my 67 Camaro coupe. It had a front set of belts that had non retracting belt buckles, and the belt clips. The set I purchased have the door side retractable belt latch setup, and the tunnel side buckle belt. The buckle (tunnel side) also have the shoulder belt option. In reading the CRG site, the shoulder belt is an option in 67, and 68-69 all have it.

I think this shoulder belt requires an over the door roof mounted latch, so I will not do the shoulder belt at this time.

My question is, did the factory include a center tunnel console type seat belt buckle holder, or did the belt with buckle simply rest on the seat when not in use?

Great. This explains the holes I have (not in my head) but rather on my center console, in the positions the two pics show. I wondered why they were there, and it confirms my suspicions that they may have been for seat belt holders. Was this something that came as a factory thing, or an accessory that an owner could buy? In any event, I'm going to buy the set.

Thanks Petes L48 for the CRG link. Saw and read that; The set I have is for a later Camaro/Chevy car, as it has the 68-69 setup with two buckles at the tunnel.

They would have been factory installed on all cars with the D55 console option regardless of RPO A39/Z23/Z87, as a mid or late year change. It's shown in the AIM on UPC D55 Sheet A2 as a design change in mid-October 1966. No idea why they didn't start showing up in cars until April.

Well then, guess who will be looking for a nice set of used, or new from the link provided by rogerh....or fast_in_muskok; got a set in your attic?

And since my 67 did not come from the factory with a center console (it was added by a previous owner), I see I'm missing item #5 (bracket) when I had the console removed to do the padding and carpet after I replaced the front and back floors. I suppose when I'm in the library, I need to view each and every AIM page.

I'll be more broke.

Thanks to all for the help and answers.

I believe the clips are available, repops, from places like NPD

Because I have seat extenders, I did not install them in my 67 as my "buckle" end adjusted for me is not long enough to reach the clips unless I release the belt some at buckle...or drill holes further back in console. I chose to just let the belt lay between seat & console when I take it off.

On 67 consoles the location is in the way of your inboard leg, on '68's its in the way when you want into the console door.

I'm am 68 guy so it's obvious which version I prefer

I think Buck wants to use console seat belt clips to hold shoulder belt buckles, but I could be wrong.
Unless I'm doing some serious driving, I typically don't wear my shoulder belt.
Legally here in Ontario, only the lap belt is mandatory.

Actually, I wanted to hold the waist belt, and not (at this time) install the shoulder belt, as the 67's mounted the belt buckles from the ceiling, and the clip part on the tunnel: the reverse for 68 and 69. My roof vinyl is perfect and original, so I don't want to cut into it.
