Hey everyone, I have a question for anyone running a 2nd gen Camaro with the T10 short 3.42 first gear 4-speed.
I am planning on swapping out my current 3.73 r/p for some more overall friendly gears. I have two sets in addition to the 3.73 that are in the car now.
I have a set of 3.23's and a set of 3.08 gears. The carrier is a factory posi and originally had a 3.42 gear behind a 305.
The Camaro is running the 1981 T10 4-speed box with the short 3.42 first gear that came in the car new. The 355 is making 410hp and 400tq. I know these T10's, especially this one is a low tq box from the get-go. I don't plan on heel-toe clutch dumps, I was just wondering what the consensus is on running the 3.08 vs the 3.23 with a 3.42 first gear?
3.42 x 3.08 = 10.53 effective first
3.42 x 3.23 = 11.04 effective first
Kinda apples to apples me thinks?
What say you!
