Hey Guys! Haven't got a clue and the kids got me mobile on this internet. I'm looking at a 1988 Camaro which has been converted. Any hints or trouble spots? Any advice? It's a 305 5 speed manual and I know the guy but don't want to get caught with a lemon. Looks great, sounds great. How will it take a gas conversion? Could I drop a 350 Chev and a Turbo 400 into it and how messy does it get? I'm 47 and looking to make the most of the next 47. Hell! That's 94 and I'm probably looking at a fun time of around 18 years. No time to waste. All tips will be appreciated, so please help if you can.
Thanks,
Slug.

I don't understand what you mean by a "gas conversion" please explain.

I have owned an 85 Z/28, and 89 IROC They were great cars.
The 5 speed was not available with the 350 as the story goes that the 350 had too much torque for it. But the 350 only had about 20 ft lbs more torque.

The other weak part is the rear end which won't take hard use from the stock engine let alone a bigger one.
You'll need to change the rear end, then you'll be in good shape.
