In my opinion, those are the optimal size tires for 1st generation Camaros. Do a search on the subject, it's been discussed at length a zillion times. Those are the sizes I run on my 15x7 ralleyes, with 4 1/2 inch backspacing. You might be able to squeeze a little more meats in the back, depending on the state of your rear suspension, but up front, that's about as good as it gets without rubbing......KZ

Thank you.

I did read all I could on the tire & wheel board , but there was so much argument /opinions back and forth with people saying they did & didn't work that I came away with a feeling that no one had a definitive answer.

I don't really want to try and squeeze any more than the 235 / 255's on it....Goodyear only makes the Eagle " Nascar " tire in a few sizes , and 235 & 255 60 15's are as close as they come , they don't make a 225 or I'd use it on the front.

Brian, I would say 235 & 255 is the biggest you can get on a stock ride height unmodified wheel well '69. I have 255/60-15 BFG TA's on the back of my SS396 right now with no problems (except even they won't hook up), but I have had them on other 69's and had them slightly rub on the edge of wheel lip at inside top. Same with 235's on front, sometimes no rub (barely), sometimes rub just a litle. To be 100% safe I usually go 225's and 245's. Just my experience with 15+ '69's in the last 20 years. Good Luck!

Huh? The 235 and 255 numbers are the width of the tire, I believe the 50, 60, 70 series numbers determine the height? Someone correct me if I'm wrong......KZ

You are right about that, the 235 does represent the width, but the sidewall height is determined by the 70/60/50 etc.

So a 235/60/15 has a sidewall ht. of 60% of 235, whereas the 255/60/15 has a sidewall ht. of 60% of 255, which is greater and will make the tire taller.

Ive got the exact combo on my 68 235/60s on front and 255/60s on rear with new torque thrust wheels. 15/7 on front and 15/8s on the rear. it looks great. probably the biggest i could run.
