Anyone running this size with little to no cutting? And what backspace?

I just got mine(AmericanRacer) and might have to do a little "trimming".

I think the 285's would be too wide unless you trim or raise the rear. I tried 275-60-15 mounted on Cragar SS"s that a friend wants to sell me. I put one on the rear of my '67 a couple of weeks ago to test. I didn't drive it, it seemed to fit fine when just sitting. When bouncing on the rear bumper, I had about 1/2" clearance to the fender lip. Not sure if this is enough, particularly if someone was to sit in back seat. Just not sure if 1/2" clearance is enough. Any thoughts?

Got 295\50\R15 BFGs on the rear of mine - minimal cutting......however,,,, rear shock are relocated inside the springs, stiff suspension, rims are 15x10 wheel vintique ralleys with a 6" offset......26.6" total height - I think your 285'a are like 28" or so? maybe a hair taller? -

It really depends on the backspacing of the rims. My 275's stick out a bit, because the 8.5" rims only have ~3 3/4" backspacing.

275/60/16 (28t x 10.8w)with 4.5"bs should fit fine. My 285's are SH tires(short)(27.4t x 11.7w) so I'm told,but a 285 should be 11.4. If I have to trim it isn't a problem.
