Did they make a 305 with 4 bolt mains? It decodes as a 305 (asked in Tag Team section). We know it's a 4 bolt block as we put a new pan gasket in it. I was told to look for casting date. Where is that and would that change the result?

We still can't believe that this motor is a 305!! Torque to burn!! Previous owner said he built the motor, and said it was a 350. Might have got scammed I guess.

Thanks
Robb

I don't think there was a 4 bolt 305 but I'm not sure about that. Somebody may have built it with 4 bolt mains. Find out where the motor came from (previous owner) and ask them about it. Someone should know the answer.

as far as I know 305's are 2 bolts.

the casting numbers are on the back and and the flange in the rear that meets the transmission. sometimes they also live near the oil filter area on the block.

once you get the casting # cross reference it at Mortec.
