What is the norm for a 309 MC in terms of it being the shallow or deep piston rod length from the booster. I have my original 9204 booster but it has a shallow rod (not sure if rod is original or not) and a new 309 MC I came across has the deep looking one needed. I have both rods but was just wondering which one is correct for a 69Z. The 309 MC does not have the US code on it.

The 69Z used the long rod.
Same with all performance applications.

Shallow rod was standard duty

There is likely a more official explanation. ???

Chevy used the long rod in '69. Other GMs used the short rod for most applications.
1969 GTO used the short rod on its 'EA' stamped 309, and Firebird 400 'GA' stamped cylinder did too, so it's not a performance thing.
