Thanx to all you motorheads out there. MOre info -- 28 coil hood springs on what appeared to be a factory cowl induction hood
although no flapper door, relay or selenoid
was found. The engine block #is 3992406 which I think is from a pick-up. The tach red line is 5700(yellow)6000(red). The car also has an original tilt steering wheel.
Outside trim consists of wheel lip mouldings,
rocker mouldings and chrome sargents stripes
in front of the rear fender. The rear end
is a 273 non-posi unit that I'm unsure of
its origin but a 12 bolt. Windshield vin#
124379L523569. no factory air no tire sticker in replaced glove box, Original TH400 trans console w/gauge package. Thanx again

On the right side of the tranny above midway point on oil pan there should be a tag about 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" riveted to the case.
A two letter code would tell you trans application. CX is a TH400 for a 396ci/375hp car. There's also a 3 digit build date. VIN # is stamped on a left side on case just above oil pan mid-point.
