I've seen odd 'wieghts' strapped to springs and hung off of differencials and tranny's.
Usually to break up some harmonics in the drivetrain and improve ride quality ...
or, if on a Camaro, it could be the remains of some sort of traction inceasing system like 'traction-bars'
There are a lot of GM leaf spring cars with these blocks straped or clamped to the leaf springs. I have been told they were supposed to be meant to absorb some of the drivetrain vibration. Was the information I was told correct? If so, did they work? I haven't got a clue!!! I kept a set of the clamps from a 79 Cadillac Seville but I threw the blocks in the trash.
