Has anybody installed vortec heads on a
400 small block ? Any problems ? I know
you need self aligning rockers, center bolt
valve covers, vortec intake manifold , I've also heard that the exhaust system may not bolt up ???

Is this a good choice for this motor ???

Thanks,

Thats a combo I'd like to use. I put a 400 sbc in my 71 vega and I used 64cc fuelie heads and it ran great!. You'll have to drill steam holes in the head between the cylinders. You'll want to watch your compression ratio. If you have flat top pistons your compression may end up between 10.5 to 11.5

This week I hope to get my chambered exhaust and vortec intake for my 327. I'll let you know if I have any problems!

Good luck!

Thanks for the info...I remeber hearing
about the steam holes...why are you going to
Vortec if you are running 2.02 fuelies ???

Vortec's come stock with 1.94 x 1.50 plus
you need all the added stuff to run Vortecs
Rockers, intake, v-covers etc.

Do you think you'll see that much of a difference ???

Just my 2 cents...keep me posted.
