Anyone have recommendations for a 69 camaro small block oil pan - I posted about an inexpensive Summit pan but no responses - guess nobody has tried it - looking for a 4 quart pan that has the reinforcement built in to the corners where the bolts go through like the factory pans - all the pictures of pans on the web don't show that level of detail and prices range from $25 to $160 for a new one. Let me know what you think! I need something to button up the bottom of my 408 so I can roll it over and get started on the top side.

thanks, Steve

I would recommend a good quality pan from someone like Milodon. You want at least stock capacity (5 qt.) or more if you have a high volume pump and/or high HP motor. Good oil control with baffles is an easy way to add HP too.

I was looking at a Milodon on ClassicIndustries page - they require using their oil pan gasket - but they are baffled and not too bad on price - Unfortunately the Milodon page says it's only up to 3.480 stroke - I have a 3.75 stroke so it won't work - I was figuring stock capacity was 4 quarts with one in the filter? It's out 450hp on paper and a high volume pump - so I may look at a bit larger pan - but then will have to change the pick up tube I guess. I never had oiling problems in my coupe when it was a drag car with oiling but it did have a windage tray and baffles too.

Summit has stroker pans from Milodon and Moroso. There are probably other quality ones out there as well. I have always considered 5 qt. as stock capacity but I did see Summit calls stock 4. The extra capacity pans seem to start at 6 qt.

Stock is four in the pan and one in the filter.

I'd assume pretty much all of the pans have those tabs in the corners. My cheap Proform seven quart pan does.
