Hi everyone: This is my first post so please help by making a good impresion.

I am looking at a 67 RS to buy and had some critical questions. I am waiting on the proper books to come so I can decode the trim plate myself but did not want to loose the car while waiting.
The car has RS features but it also has an SS hood and "claimed" engine, but the RS emblems are prevailant on and in the car, Is this corect?
It has a 10 bolt rear ,AC, console, rear spoiler, black vynl roof, light yellow ext., rally wheels and spare, and many other smaller options.
The engine is a small block so if it is an SS also should this be a 350 or did chevy put in 327's in the SS?
What info should be on the trim plate so this can be RS and SS? Thank you all so much for having a wonderful site: it has already helped me on this car with color chart and other free info. David

Welcome to the site! You picked a good year to buy, I've got a '67 RS/SS too. The '67s are easiest to verify because all the info is on the trim tag. You can check all the codes and other options on this site, it's a wealth of info: www.camaros.org Check out this page in particular: http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#67Codes

A rally sport will have a 3L code on the cowl tag, an SS 350 will have a 4P, and an SS 396 will have a 4N or 4K I believe. There were some early SS cars built at the Norwood plant that did not get the 4P code stamped on though.

Do a search in the Tag Team section and General Tech and you will learn lots of ways to verify whether it's a real SS or not. The trim tag is the easiest way on '67s though. Good luck with the car!

You may also want to post the engine number stamped into the pad in front of the right head. If I remember right MU and MV signified the 350. Post it and we'll decode it.

Thanks so much for the info, I din't even see the tag section but will post the remaining questions there as I did get to the car today with a note pad and managed to get the numbers and codes on the trim tag and engine.

Still don't understand about that hood and spoiler?? David

By the way, SS cars did not originally come with 10 bolt rears, only 12 bolts. Also, SS badging superceded the RS badges when SS equipment was installed. This may alert you to a possible bogus SS.

If you look at the camaro-untoldsecrets.com site you will see a guest article with much info on L30/M20 options, if you read Rich's "updated" article you will see this car falls perfectly in line to be one of these, the 11B date puts it too early to have a 12-bolt rear or the traction bar or the 4P code on the trim tag. I did find the hood, spoiler and wheels to be wrong acording to this info. but the 10-bolt is right for an early L30/M20 car and I will look today for the t-bar and speedo cable on the left side of the steering wheel. I will also verfy the saginaw 4-speed as well as the brake prp, vlv. and the split rear lines as this should be there because of the AC.

Hey guys I have a question I have asked before but here goes again does the SS come before the RS. The reason I ask I have a what I call a SS RS because on the original invoice it shows the RS package like it was an option ordered on the car with the other options the car has. I have all the paper work on the car build sheet etc. I also have a 67 RS car that I am going to sale and have the Car Shipper paper with this car it shows the the RS Package like it was an option ordered on this car too. Just wondering what people think about this.

The SS was an option too just like the RS. The SS was a performance option while the RS was a trim option.

I have never seen them referred to as SS/RS only RS/SS.
