Does anyone have the dimensional differences between a 67 caliper bracket and a JL8 bracket? Also the differences between calipers? I'm looking for a work around the $400 JL8 brackets... Thanks, W

It's a kinda thick chunk of steel, 3/8ths I believe and the finished product isn't flat.

The brackets are the single most expensive part. I got mine a few years ago on eBay for $400.

Do you have your JL8 shopping list?

Disc brake spindles.
Drum brake hub.
Longer wheel nut bolts (knock the old screws out, pull the new ones in).
Splash shields (you can cheat here).
Regular old C3 Corvette front calipers (eBay again $100 for both, already sleeved because they were used).
C3 Corvette caliper to bracket bolts.
Regular old C3 Corvette front rotors.
JL8 flex brake lines.
JL8 hose brackets (these bolt to the caliper, I used Heart Beat City for the small stuff).
JL8 intermediate hard lines (HBC).
JL8 intermediate hard line adapter (HBC).

I just reused my existing front disc brake MC/hold off valve/distribution block and my 67 drum hard brake lines.

Missed your reply. ThAnks for taking the time. I've got a pair of 67-68 disk brackets and a complete 68 vette in my shop right now. I can borough the JL8 brackets off my buddy's 68 T/A Camaro. With those parts, a TIG, vertical bandsaw and Bridgeport, I should be able to come up with something. Ill post what ever comes of it. Thanks Again.

Promised an update...
Got a set of original Jl-8 brackets, c-3 calipers and rotors and my $50 eBay "Camaro brake brackets".
Started mocking everything up and it turns out my brackets work! They're visually quite different from the OEM but dimensionally the same. Confirmed with a planer gauge, surface plate, micrometers... to +\- 0.07. I'd purchased my brackets because the description was vague and the didn't look anything like the stock 67-68 parts. Figured I might get lucky. And it looks like I did. So this project is over.
