I joined this site a little over a month ago...several of the Experienced guys here helped me to authenticate my car as a real Z since the original motor and trans are gone"Ive definitely learned alot in a short amount of time"...now that I know what I have it's on to the next phase which is Restoration. My car is currently in the body shop and is getting a full rotisserie restoration..I found a year correct MO 302 and I'm having it installed as well..the car still has its factory 4.10 rearend, but I'm not sure if the 4.10's are still inside..if they are I'm planning to install either a tko600 5 speed or a t-56 Magnum 6 speed...motor is pretty fresh with less than 1000 miles on the rebuild...it has camel hump head out of a 64 model Chevrolet ,runs 11.1 compression and has around 450hp..I plan to actually drive the car cross coutry..I'll be updating my complete build here on this Thread..cars name is Kong.

Some interesting changes. The Corvette rear bumpers and the gas filler removed. Do you open the trunk to gas it up?

Enjoy. 450 hp out of a 302 with iron camel hump heads is a stretch. 350 or so IMHO is more realistic.

I can definitely believe what you're saying in this case as I've never actually dynoed the engine, and I'm going solely off of what the seller told me.....I had a 1968 327 bored 60 over, flat tappet cam,and Camelback head..it was in a c3 Corvette..it 303hp to the wheel which is roughly 350 at the crank, but when I tell you I thought I was in a jet when punching it from a dig.lol

What are the widest wheels that I can fit on a stock suspension?

I'm considering these as they match the color scheme of the car...I want 18x9 in the front and 19x10 in the rear, but the can only do 19x11 in the rear..the guy says he has a 20x10,but I dont want to go that big on the rear.

Don't know, engine builder and every calculator I used pegs mine at 450.

In my opinion you will never get close to 450 with a stock 30 to build it’s just not gonna happen

350 maybe 360 or so with all the stars aligned

Does yours have camel hump heads as well?
Yes it does cut to 2.02/1.6 port matched to Victor JR air gap Bottom of the page Crane Hydraulic cam (card lost) from about 1985 12.5:1 hand massaged pistons.

And you’re running this on pump gas?

To get power out of these short stroke motors you need to get up another high RPM range. What is your red line on this build with hydraulic cam?

93 with octane booster. and instead o lead. No way plain pump gas. I personally set red line at 7500 but that is me not the motor. Its is not finished when I am.

Not that I'm aware of. Jerry has a 67Z registry... if I'm not mistaken.
I sent Kurt an email to inquire about it..I saw where he posted in March of this year that CRG has a registry for all Gen 1 Z's regardless of the year..I just wonder what's all required to get into the registery?

Is there still a registry for 68 Z's?
The 68 Z registry online seems kinda dead when I searched. It seems I printed some forms from that site but no active list I found.
Chick has a list going on this site.
