Sorry for the long post, but I have a lot of questions about something that seemed like a simple job when I started lol. I've been searching around the forums and online, but cannot seem to find a good diagram or set of pictures for brake line routing. I've started from a bare subframe, and I think I'm getting close to having everything I need for replacement.
I ordered a pre-bent brake line kit from CPP and I have the MC, prop valve and booster installed. Since when I bought the car, it was just a bare shell I don't have any old lines to look at so see how it all was done. I think I have the front lines kind of, roughed in to position, and I also think I have the correct sub frame brackets coming in this week, the ones I ordered last week don't seem to line up with the pre-bent line kit I ordered. I've seen two difference kinds online, the kind that mount on the top side of the subframe (which the lines don't seem to match up with) and the "L" shaped ones that mount on the sides of the subframe (see pic below).
So, I think I will have the front lines figured out when the brackets come in, but my real question is on the rear end. I have a Ford 9" rear end, and everything I've found to mount the rear flex hose is for factory stuff like 10 or 12 bolt rear ends. Now, I didn't think this would be a big deal, because I was just going to fab my own little bracket to mount over one of the studs on the rear end housing. BUT, the bolts aren't long enough to just put a little piece of steel and a second nut on. Can I mount my little tab under the original bolt and just torque that bolt down or would that mess with the quality of the seal I have for the rear end? I was thinking about just adding some RTV to the fab'd tab and calling it good? If not, what are my other options?
Next, the brake line kit from CPP had four brake lines in it, the two I have left to install are pictured below. I feel like I am missing one? If I am not mistaken, one of them would run from the prop valve to the flex hose that would mount to the rear dif. But then that would only leave me one line, which wouldn't make sense because I would need one to go from each rear caliper into the flex line on the rear dif. If I am missing one, can someone link me what I would still need to order to complete this? I currently don't have the tools to bend & flare custom lines. I haven't really looked into how much those tools would cost.
If anyone has some pictures laying around of the routing of the brake lines and maybe where the clips etc bolt in I would appreciate it! If I forgot to mention this is a 4 wheel disc job.
Thank you for your help and sorry again for the long post! I will also add in some pictures of what I have going with the front brake lines, I have the brackets that I believe are the wrong ones for the flex line to hard lines mounted in the pictures, but any guidance on that as well will be greatly appreciated!
