i've gone thru several alternator in the last year. the amps seem to flux from 14 to 8 with or with out a load. i've changed the battery,inspected wires,ect... the only thing i,ve noticed is the small wire coming from the batt to a terminal next to the radiator sometimes gets extremly HOT.this problem is intermittent and have had it checked out at a shop????????

Most places that sell batteries (like Sears) have equipment that will check out your electrical system quickly. They generally do it for free in hopes of selling you something. I've had them pinpoint a couple of problems that I wasn't able to easily figure out on my own.

The problem is a short somewhere in the system.Its only intermittent because its only shorting sometimes.
