I'm building a 68 Camaro for the street. I have a Lincoln 9" that came with disc brakes that I would like to use for durability reasons.
Does anyone know what problems I will encounter matching the Lincoln rear discs up with an aftermarket Camaro front disc set-up?
The Lincoln 9" is a 1974 from a Town Car.

I have the Lincoln Mark % discs on the 9" in my '69. They use 11 inch rotors and the caliper is about 1/8 inch from the wheel. I haven't hooked up the parking brake cables yet, but they are important to the operation of the brakes. The park brake is also the adjustment for the caliper. If the park brake is not applied ocasionally the caliper will be out of adjustment. I used a '69 Corvette master cylinder and I don't think there will be any problem with the front brakes.

You need to verify first the size of the caliper pistons. There are two different sized calipers available. One has a piston diameter around 2" (the ones you want)and the other is closer to 3"-which are too big. If you have the larger calipers, the smaller ones will bolt right up to the same brackets, but the smaller calipers also use a smaller diameter disc. I am trying to run the "small" calipers with the "big" discs and I think it will be just a matter of making some spacers. I have an article in one of my old magazines on this rear ens. As soon as I find it I can get you some more specific info.

Does it really matter about caliper piston size as long as a prop. valve is used and adjusted properly??

According to Baer Racing, the optimal front to rear bias in piston area is at minimum 60/40 or greater. If you are planning to run the "factory" front disc-single piston calipers, the front to rear ratio would be approx 55/45 (rough calculation) with the larger Lincoln brakes. Using the smaller rear calipers would increase the ratio to approx 65/35. I suppose that an adjustable prop valve would handle either scenario, but you might be closer to its maximum range with the larger rear brakes.

I look at it this way, the larger Lincoln rear brakes were designed to run with front calipers that had 3 1/4" pistons and a "hydroboost" system. You don't want to end up with the rear end doing most of the stopping.

I would also take a look into what size rear caliper pistons would be used on a Camaro with "factory" front discs and compare that to the two Lincoln options. I haven't checked into this setup, so I'm sorry I can't help there.
