2001 truck? That'd be 4.8 (LR4), 5.3 (LM7), or 6.0 (LQ4) "LSX" engine. Only the Vette and Camaro and maybe a Caddy had the 5.7 (LS1 or LS6) in 2001. All of the LSX engines are the basically the same though. The mounting is different from a smallblock, but you can make or buy adapter plates, and you'll need an adapter torque convertor if you want to use you're old trans. Wiring looks scary but really isn't too bad if you got the underhood harness from the '01. Go check out the "Conversions & Hybrids" forum on ls1tech.com. Tons of info in the stickies there--LSX retrofit is a really popular swap right now. I just got done with an LS1 swap on my '68 Camaro. http://www.blown.net/ls1swap/
